Flu Clinic

Just wondering why I signed up to do a 5 hour flu clinic for bed-ridden long-term care patients on my only day off this week. Good karma? Let's hope it will be rewarding enough to make up for getting up when it's still dark out....

about this blog...and about me

This is my first post to a blog I just decided to write a few minutes ago. I felt the need to connect with other pharmacists, technicians or any other person employed in a service-related field. I thought this blog might serve as a place of ranting and raving, venting, complaining, sharing amusing or annoying stories, and generally getting to know other people that might be experiencing similar daily frustrations. Don't get me wrong...not only do I love certain aspects of my chosen profession, I appreciate HAVING a job in this economy and am fortunate that it is a very rewarding job when all is said and done.

A little about me:
My name is Stephanie. I am a community pharmacist at a nation-wide grocery store chain and I currently live and work in Houston, Texas. I graduated from the University of Arizona with my PharmD (doctorate in pharmacy) in 2001. I moved to Houston from Phoenix in 2008 at which time I changed companies. My father is also a pharmacist and owns his own independent store in AZ at which I've also worked.

In some ways I possess a lot of traits that are "typical" to pharmacists--detail oriented (or "anal" as some would say), a bit OCD, I like things neat, clean and organized. I have great handwriting and am decent at math and enjoy numbers.
That's where it ends, though...the other half of me (I AM a gemini, after all) is all about art, movies, music, tattoos, and I definitely lean toward the left politically.

I could go on and on but I am sure we'll all learn about each other as time goes on! I would love people to use this blog as an online social network and as a support group where you can come and vent about a really bad day, an abusive patient, or whatever! Similarly, if you made a difference in someone's life or had a GOOD day (I realize these posts might be a little harder to come by, especially if you're an immunizer during flu season and are short on tech help like me).

Anyway, please introduce yourselves and welcome!
